Dry needling is a targeted technique that uses a thin, single-use sterile needle to stimulate specific muscle areas commonly associated with tension or sensitivity, often referred to as “trigger points.”

It is used within the scope of remedial massage and may be included to support comfort and ease during movement-focused sessions. Dry needling is commonly combined with soft-tissue techniques, stretching, and simple self-care guidance as part of an overall session plan.

How is it different from Acupuncture?

Acupuncture traditionally follows meridian theory and may address a broad range of concerns.

Dry needling is musculoskeletal-focused. We assess movement patterns, identify areas of muscle tension, and apply the needle locally as part of a movement-based massage session.

Common situations where dry needling may be used

  • Neck, shoulder, or back muscle tightness

  • Running- or training-related muscle tension (e.g. ITB, quads)

  • Desk-related postural discomfort

  • Post-exercise muscle soreness

  • Jaw or upper-neck muscular tension

What to Expect ?

  1. Assessment: brief history and movement screen

  2. Consent: we discuss what may be included; you decide

  3. Session: brief, gentle dry needling combined with manual therapy or stretching

  4. Plan: simple tips on posture, load, and home self-care between visits
